Jungheinrich Stages “1st Hamburg Intralogistics Summit”

Hamburg, Germany. A high-calibre meeting of European logistics specialists is being staged from October 14th to 16th in Hamburg. With the renowned Atlantic Hotel as the venue, the confab represents the launch of a new event series devoted to the future of intralogistics and related sectors of industry. The intralogistics specialist Jungheinrich is the organiser of the event.

Staged under the motto "The Future in Stock", the three-day conference (Oct. 14-16) is set to draw over 400 logistics specialists from across Europe. The summit features presentations and discussions on the latest intralogistics trends and societal mega-trends. The pool of attendees is drawn from industry experts as well as clients, business partners and friends of Jungheinrich. The keynote topics consist of The Interaction of Management, Innovative Technologies and New Work Organisation Methods; Alternative Future Scenarios and Their Consequences for Trading and the Economy; and Rules of the Global Internet Society.

The conference will moreover delve into product development issues and intralogistics service concepts reflecting both the latest and future trends. "Intralogistics has been the vocation and passion of our enterprise for the last 60 years," comments Hans-Georg Frey, Chairman of the Jungheinrich Board of Management. "We have created this summit in order to promote cross-industry networking and knowledge transfer."

Speakers at this year's summit include Prof. Dr. Hans-Jörg Bullinger, past president of the Fraunhofer Society, Hamburg-based trends researcher Prof. Peter Wippermann and Dr. Jan Dietrich Müller, Senior Vice President at Deutsche Post DHL. Speakers for Jungheinrich include Dr. Klaus-Dieter Rosenbach, Member of the Board of Management Engineering as well as Dirk Schulz, Head of After-sales Service. The event will be moderated by journalist Conny Czymoch, with words of welcome delivered by Dr. Karl-Joachim Dreyer, past president of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce from 2002 to 2008.

The second day of the summit will feature a tour of the Jungheinrich spare parts centre in the town of Kaltenkirchen, to the north of Hamburg. The new centre represents an example of the concrete implementation of a number of fundamental trends being spotlighted at the intralogistics summit. According to Hans-Georg Frey, "This major project at Kaltenkirchen serves as a showcase for Jungheinrich's intralogistics competence. It proves that the focused organisation of intra-company processes provides an enormous opportunity to boost efficiency by substantially reducing costs, time and the amount of energy consumed and that this constitutes a decisive factor in terms of international competitiveness. This is an insight which Jungheinrich is going to expand on and deepen at the '2nd Hamburg Intralogistics Summit' to be held in future."

Jungheinrich ranks among the world's leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is an intralogistics service and solution provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems, services and advice. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
